Golden YearsTM take roots as programme for the elders and aims to promote active ageing in elders by optimising their physical, mental and social well-being. Our range of interactive music making modules are specially designed and carried out with person-centred care approaches to keep learners actively engaged and valued.
These modules promote self expression, build self-esteem and confidence, encourage social interaction, and allow new skills, interests and friendships to be developed in the process. It is a holistic approach that encourages elders to be engaged and improve their quality of life in their golden years.
Melodies With Handbells
Light-weight, bright colours and various pitch are the main characteristics of the programme. This module is designed for the elders involving music-making and games, visual stimuli, sing-along with familiar evergreens and hand-eye coordination. As vibrant as the bells, this module also injects colourful story creation and visual appeal to promote cognitive activities such as showcasing the “now and then” photographs of places of interest.
Reminiscing With Ukulele
The elders will be exposed to music activities such as sing-along and strumming with Ukulele. Rhythm games and storytelling are introduced to stimulate creative thinking and spark positive energy through sharing of past experiences and eventful memoirs.
Synergy With Drumming
Creation of energy and evocation of emotion are key aspect of this programme. The elders are exposed to energetic music-making through expressive flight using synergised movements. Games are introduced involving rhythmic memory recall, follow the beat and improvisation of rhythms.
Vocal in Enchanted Melodies
Happiness is key to life and singing takes the form as one of the the key to life’s greatest secret. Our vocal module, packed with favourites of the past, provide a platform for elders to express their emotion through singing. The vocal ensemble creates a mood-setting environment that fills the air with positive energy and promote spirit of camaraderie amongst them. Vocal warm-ups, control dynamics and singing in unison are among the regular activity in the programme.
Melodies With Angklung
Angklung resonates in many of us as one of the oldest musical instrument that rattles familiar tunes. A band of Angklung is a unified percussion ensemble that commands hand-eye coordination and offers sing-along activity with familiar evergreen. The module cognitively arouses muscle memory and trigger recollection of memoirs. guided through a simple hand exercises while producing euphonious and unison melody.
Language Choreography
Language choreography is movement in a sing-along activity for the elders. Song lyrics are uniquely choreographed as the elders sway and moves gracefullly in this programme. The activity evoke emotion and allow the elder to express themselves freely. The programme promotes memory retention and recollection exercises.
